The picture frame “La Vue de Ma Vie” references a previous eponymous work and is made of polished bisque porcelain that attaches horizontally or vertically on a wall.
But this frame is a new genre. It is more than just a piece conceived by Sophie Calle, beyond just a simple frame, it is also a beautiful and clever object in and of itself.
In the area where a photograph would be placed, the artist has written that which signifies the view of her life so you could imagine it….and if you turn over the frame, you will see there the photo of “la vue de ma vie.” Only those with whom you share the secret will know. Others who look at the frame will only see visible supports or protective glass, or the ingenious system that magnetically affixes the picture you place on a recessed plate within the frame.
